Piaget's Stages of Cognitive Development

After reviewing Piaget’s stages of development, I find that, similarly, in architecture, engineering, and politics, professionals need to understand and practice a DEVELOPMENTAL SEQUENCE. Otherwise, the envisioned goals are difficult to achieve. Thank you to Dr. Piaget and his followers. This requires a holistic view of the dimensions that must be in harmony to have a children’s space open. The Stern Playground in Newton, Massachusetts demonstrates the fulfillment of a much-needed vision and action at this time of turmoil.

Piaget's Theory continues to influence our decision making related to child development. Many parents would benefit from understanding his explanation of how children learn best through exploration, and they could be influenced to make good decisions about what kinds of items to have available for their very young children. In this holiday season and with inflation impacting all of our budgets, parents would do well to spend less on expensive toys and focus on more natural materials and outdoor environments for their young children to explore.

Piaget opened the door to mainstream educators that children learn in developmental stages through play experiences and not workbooks and drills. The belief in play for children is still under threat in the new guise of tv and computer teachers asking a series of questions to students rather than face-to-face and experimental activity. The slippery slope of going backward is still there. Thank you blog for posting on his work.

Yes, and TESTING is also a huge hurdle to giving children a chance to learn experientially and in their own way and time...
